"After the Gesture" centers on a tall, irregular black form that rises from the lower middle of the portrait field and leans toward the right edge. A thin horizontal mark extends beyond its upper edge, while a second low line cuts across the open ground, creating a quiet system of counterweights.

The composition is nearly monochrome: deep black carries density, and a soft ivory ground holds the surrounding silence. Sparse specks and rubbed traces sit beyond the main form, like remnants of an action left visible after the decisive mark has been made.
